Keys to the game (5/14)

Keys to the game-
1.) Score. Some. Freaking. Runs. I am not sure there is much more I can say about this that I have not already said, but let's recap...
Score runs (plural)=a chance to win.
Don't score runs=Lose.
It is a pretty simple concept that I am sure our offense understands, but for some unknown reason is having a hard time doing. Today scoring runs will not be an easy task because we are facing off against Hector Santiago. Santiago is 4-1 with a 2.76 ERA. He has had some struggles with his control, walking 12 batters in his last 17 2/3 innings, but he has been able to tip toe around disaster. Let's make sure he can't do that today. We have got to get hits when runners on in scoring position. If he gives you a base, make him pay for it!
2.) We need Bauer to do better! Bauer has been bad. There are no two ways around it. He has consistently stunk. His 2-4 record with a 7.36 ERA is a testament to his trials on the mound. He has given up 4 runs or more in each of his starts except for one, which coincidentally was came against the Twins back in April (he gave up 2 runs on 3 hits in 6 1/3 innings). Bauer's biggest issue is himself. He is easily flustered, gets in his own head, and tends to not trust his catcher. All of those things needs to change. Keep your emotions in check and right the ship.
3.) Back him up. It doesn't take much to rattle Trevor Bauer, but one sure fire way to work him into a tizzy is by playing bad defense and committing silly errors. So we need to make sure that we play fundamentally sound defense. Don't give the Twins any extra outs, no freebies! Make an out be an out and play smart! Let's avoid the sweep and get back in the win column.
