Carrasco dominates, Tribe win 7-0

Quick Recap
The Tribe just keep on rolling, winning their fifth straight and six of their last seven.
Cleveland is outscoring opponents 29-7 during the five-game streak, after beating the White Sox 7-0 Saturday night.
The Indians drew first blood in the top of the first inning when Edwin Encarnacion obliterated a Mike Pelfrey pitch over the right-centerfield wall. I didn't get out the measuring tape, but it looked like that ball went at least 420 feet. Encarnacion's blast scored Michael Brantley to give Cleveland a 2-0 lead. The Tribe offense wasn't done, as they scored two more runs in the fifth. Carlos Santana knocked in Abraham Almonte on a single to right and Francisco Lindor did his job by hitting a sacrifice fly to deep centerfield, scoring Yan Gomes. The Tribe took a 4-0 lead in the fifth and added some insurance in the seventh when Michael Brantley hit a home run to right field, scoring Carlos Santana. Oh and don't forget about Jose Ramirez (the GOAT), who hit his team-leading fifth home run of the season in the top of the ninth. Carlos Carrasco was absolutely incredible, more on that when we get to the player of the game section! He dropped his ERA to 1.65 after a dynamite start tonight.

We don't always talk about defense, but Ramirez deserves mention. He made incredible defensive plays tonight, here is one example below:

Just because J-Ram is the GOAT, I have to show one more video. I never noticed this "strut" he has, but it had me cracking up tonight when I saw the other players imitating it.

Also of note, the Tribe stole four bases tonight (Santana, Brantley, Ramirez and Chisenhall).

Edwin Encarnacion (EDWING!)
Player(s) of the Game: Carlos Carrasco, Edwin Encarnacion and Michael "Dr. Smooth" Brantley
With the complete effort the Tribe put forward tonight, it was very difficult to pick one player of the game. This is why I picked three!

Carlos Carrasco was downright unhittable tonight. He might not be a Klubot, but I'm sure there are many MLB teams who wish they had him as their ace. Carrasco finished with eight innings pitched, allowing only three hits and no runs. The right-hander struck out eight and walked only one.

Encarnacion hit a home run in the first that still hasn't landed (I just checked, I think it's in orbit). He finished 2-for-5 with a single and two RBI.

Brantley finished 2-for-5 with a two-run home run and he scored twice. It feels great to watch Dr. Smooth looking comfortable in the batter's box.

The Last Word
The Tribe is on a roll and it sure is fun to watch! The Indians send Danny Salazar to the mound tomorrow to face off against Derek Holland. If Salazar can give a quality start, he would be the fifth consecutive starter to pitch well. The Tribe has a chance to finish the road trip 6-0 tomorrow. A team that won 53 games at home last year (tied first in the AL), is off to a scorching start on the road (8-3). It's too early to think too much into it, but it is exciting to see the Tribe rollin' on the road.

The Doctor is Back!
You may not believe it since Lindor and Ramirez have carried the Tribe offense in the early portion of the season, but Michael Brantley now is the team leader in batting average (besides Lonnie Chisenhall, who doesn't qualify because he has less at bats).

Brantley: .316
Ramirez: .313
Lindor: .304

Hard to believe when Brantley got off to a bit of a slower start.
