Klubot, engage! Indians win fourth straight behind Kluber's fourth career shutout

Quick Recap
Corey Kluber was absolutely phenomenal tonight, looking like a total robot, I mean, a guy who has won the Cy Young. The Tribe ace was like a fine wine tonight as he got better with time. Kluber allowed only three hits and he had nine strikeouts and only two walks. Kluber notched his fourth career shutout and his eleventh career complete game as the Indians beat the White Sox 3-0.

The Indians drew first blood in the top of the third on a Jose Quintana wild pitch that scored Austin Jackson. The play at the plate was close, but the old veteran displayed just enough speed to score. The Indians scored again in the fourth, when Brandon Guyer slugged his first home run of the season, scoring Jason Kipnis and making the lead 3-0. Speaking of Kipnis, he returned to the lineup for the first time this year and went 0-for-3 with a walk, a run scored and a strikeout. Kipnis also helped turn a double play. Kipnis didn't get a hit in his debut, but he was patient and saw 28 pitches in his four plate appearances.

Player of the Game: Corey Kluber
Kluber entered tonight's game with a 6.38 ERA, but I think most fans knew he was going to turn it around at some point soon. Soon just happened to be tonight for the former Cy Young Award winner. He followed Josh Tomlin and Trevor Bauer, by consecutively turning in their best outings of the season. Kluber had the best outing of the bunch and probably the best outing by a Cleveland pitcher this season. Kluber left the field with a 4.28 ERA and he's just getting started.

Honorable mention to Brandon Guyer and Austin Jackson. Guyer, as mentioned before, hit his first home run and Jackson had the only other extra-base hit for the Tribe with a double in the third. Michael Brantley also deserves mention as he was the only Indians' hitter with two hits.

The Last Word
Much has been said about some of the early struggles of the Tribe, but the Indians just might (knock on wood) be hitting their groove. The team now has won four straight and five of their last six. Not every player is in mid-season form, but the team has found a way to win during this streak. One positive for Tribe fans is the team has found a way to win in several different ways so far this season. They can outscore you in a high-scoring slugfest, but they've also shown they can outpitch you in a low-scoring affair. Two examples could be taken from the last two outings by Kluber. Kluber started against Detroit last Saturday, he got the win but didn't have his best stuff. The Tribe won the game 13-6 and Kluber went 6.1 IP, surrendering six runs on eight hits. Fortunately for Kluber, his offense picked him up and he got his first win of the season,. His second win, tonight, was of the opposite variety. It didn't matter what the offense did, Kluber was locked in and was ready to get his team the win. Kluber had his 11th complete game and his fourth career shutout, striking out nine along the way. He was filthy tonight.

Fun Stat of the Game
The key number tonight is four. The Indians now have won four straight, and it was the fourth complete game shutout of Kluber's career. The right-hander had two of his shutouts last season.
