Tomlin's quality start, bats power Tribe to 11-4 win over Twins

Will the real Cleveland Indians please stand up? After losing the previous series to Detroit and struggling at the plate as well as the mound, this team looked like a completely different ballclub tonight. Backed by a surprisingly solid start from Josh Tomlin and a healthy offensive outburst, the Tribe defeated the Twins for the second straight night, 11-4! They're now 7-7 on the year.

Editor's Note: I think this video applies to our current situation :)

Josh Tomlin
Ride 'em, Cowboy!
After being absolutely rocked in his first two starts this season, Josh Tomlin looked like the solid starter that pitched in the 2016 Playoffs. He tossed six innings, allowed three runs on seven hits and struck out a pair. At least for one night, everything seemed to be working for him, including a curveball that dropped a little bit more, Josh was hitting his spots with his other pitches and getting a lot of ground ball outs. Happy to see him do well tonight!

Jose Ramirez
Offensive Explosion
Josh Tomlin received all the run support he could ask for tonight. The Indians pounded out 11 runs on 12 hits and went 12-for-37 as a team for a solid .324 average for the game. The lineup brought the lumber early and often. A 3-0 lead in the top of the first was a great sign that the Indians would be successful at the plate. Successful seems like an understatement, as the Tribe scored in six of nine innings, including scoring at least one run in each inning from the 3rd to the 6th. It was also great to see a couple balls leave the yard, as Jose Ramirez and Edwin Encarnacion each slugged home runs, their fourth and second of the season, respectively.

Not so fun stat of the night
For as well as things went for the Tribe both at the plate and on the mound, there WAS one thing that these guys could've done without, errors. The Indians committed three errors on the night. This is out of character when you consider the type of disciplined defensive team that the Indians normally are. Coming into this game, they had committed only three errors combined in the first 13 games. While a win is a win, I'm sure Terry Francona and his coaching staff will work to clean things up moving forward.

What's Next?
The Indians try to take their third straight (and a series win) against Minnesota tomorrow night behind Trevor Bauer (0-2, 8.44 ERA). The Twins counter by starting Adalberto Mejia (0-1, 4.05 ERA). The Tribe will look for a win against a left-handed starting pitcher for the first time this year. First pitch is scheduled for 8:10 p.m. Catch the game on SportsTime Ohio!
