Indians blow out Tigers 13-6 behind explosive offensive performance

A game that most baseball fans might have expected to be a pitcher's duel, turned into a slugfest Saturday evening.
The Indians tallied 13 runs and 19 hits and got enough solid pitching to get a much-needed 13-6 win.

Quick Recap
Lonnie Chisenhall
Corey Kluber and Justin Verlander have been two of the best and most consistent starting pitchers in
baseball in the past few years, but the two combined for just over 10 innings pitched, allowing 15 runs. Luckily for Cleveland Fans, Kluber got through six innings and got the win, his first of the season.
The Indians got off to a fast start behind a three-run dinger by Jose Ramirez in the first inning. In the second, Carlos Santana added to the power surge, with a two-run bomb. In the third, Lonnie Chisenhall hit his second home run in as many games, a two-run shot that put the Indians ahead 7-0.
The Tigers weren't out of it yet, though, tallying three runs in the fourth, behind an RBI single from Victor Martinez and a two-run homer by Justin Upton. The Tigers would cut the lead to three in the top of the fifth, but the Indians answered during their half of the fifth with a two-run single off the bat of Carlos Santana, making the score 9-4. The Tigers fought back, making it 9-6 in the top of the seventh, but the Indians offense wasn't done yet. Ramirez hit his second three-run home run in the bottom of the 8th, marking the first time in the young infielder's career hitting two home runs in one game. Ramirez had 6 RBI. The Tribe made it 13-6 in the bottom of the 8th, before Cody Allen worked the ninth to finish out a much-needed victory.

Player of the Game
Jose Ramirez takes home the player of the game award for his two home run and six RBI effort. Although Ramirez was great at the plate, going a perfect 4-for-4, I'll also take some space to credit some of the other hitters who had good games. Carlos Santana, Francisco Lindor and Lonnie Chisenhall each added three hits, with Santana and Chisenhall leaving the yard. Abraham Almonte added a two-hit game. Ramirez has been insane in the last two games. In his last seven at-bats, Ramirez is 6-for-6 with a walk and two HR. In honor of the tear Ramirez currently is on, below is his first three-run shot, during the first inning Saturday.

The Last Word
Cleveland came into today's game having lost three straight and six of their last seven. The Tribe was able to snap the three-game skid by getting a good output from their offense. The Tribe pushed across 13 runs Saturday, after scoring only 14 runs in the previous five games combined. The team improves to 5-6 on the season and will have a chance to climb back to .500 baseball tomorrow afternoon against the Tigers. Has the offense found its way out of the funk it was in? Tune in tomorrow to find out as the Indians send Carlos Carrasco to the hill to face off with Matt Boyd.

Fun Stat of the Game
The Indians have won their last 49 games when Corey Kluber receives at least five runs in run support, dating back to June 11, 2013 (Source: Sports Time Ohio broadcast).
